Verizon is a Fortune 500 company and takes pride in servicing 99% of Fortune 500 companies as well as Government Agencies around the world. In Canberra, we run two key business units - the Government Security Operations Centre (GSOC) and Advanced Security Operations Centre (ASOC), providing services to customers who rely on Verizon to provide twenty four seven security analytics of their critical infrastructure.

A key part of our ASOC capability comes from our Tier 1 Analysts, people with a keen eye for detail, analytical thinking, and a willingness to learn cyber security tradecraft. Candidates will come from a background in technology. You will be taught on the job how to handle common recurring security, monitoring and other incidents on a SIEM platform. This is a great entry level role to kick start your career in Cyber Security.

This role requires you to participate in a twenty four sevenwork roster, with shift loading included.

Responsibilities:

• Monitoring, Alert Triage, Analysis, and Incident Determination - managing incidents through lifecycle on the SIEM & service management platforms.
• Working on customer incidents to completion independently and within service level agreements.
• Coordinating with Senior Analysts and customer personnel for high priority incidents.
• Continual service improvement and assisting in detection development.

Where you’ll be working:

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
• Two years of experience in a technical role, with cyber security experience.
• A current NV1 security clearance, or the willingness to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Experience in Linux, Windows, SIEM platforms, Scripting, TCP/IP, DNS and/or network and log analysis.
• ITIL Foundations experience or certification highly advantageous.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to engage with customers to understand their requirements.
• Tertiary qualifications and/or recognized industry certifications in cyber security.
