What you’ll be doing...

Our network engineering team keeps us ahead of the competition. As an Sr RF Manager, you’ll provide technical leadership to the RF team, complete budget/planning analysis, and demand/traffic analysis. You’ll also provide guidance to the market on RF planning and develop network evolution/growth plans. You’ll play a key role in making sure our customers continue to enjoy the crystal-clear connections and top-notch network performance that we’re known for.

The Sr RF Manager role will provide technical leadership to a team of engineers who will be responsible for RF network design in Northern California/Northern Nevada. The position will be located in the Folsom, CA office.

The manager will provide leadership, vision, direction, supervision, and development of RF Design Engineers and Capacity Planning Engineers. Stimulate individual and team performance through timely constructive feedback and encouragement through open participative management.

• Provide strategic leadership to the RF engineering team to analyze technical large scale programs, identify technical solutions, and follow the programs through to a successful completion.
• Stay ahead of data/demand growth and plan solutions to ensure our network has adequate capacity and supports customer throughput expectations.
• Provide direction to the team for the design of technology upgrades, new Macro sites, new SC sites, and 4G/5G carrier adds to improve network performance. Provide priority for submarket projects based on network needs, needs of the business, and submarket yearly goals. Complete pipeline review to make sure that the pipeline aligns with our 3 year plan.
• Ensure compliance with Regulatory rules on RF Safety, EME, e911, and FCC/FAA regulations.
• Drive new process improvements and automation related to RF/NP functions in the submarket and make best practices available to the Centralized Engineering and HQ teams.
• Foster and promote a team environment among direct reports and peer managers across all functional areas including HQ/Centralized Engineering and VZW's strategic partners
• Provide leadership to focus the team on Corporate Standards related to: 4G/5G RF Design, Antenna Systems, Atoll Database Management, Database Integrity, Baseband Design, Virtualization of the Core Network, mm-Wave Design, cBand Design, and maintenance of Legacy Network Equipment.
• Regularly develop new solutions to complex problems in the business. Analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors and the frequent use of creativity. Must have the ability to take technically complex topics and relay them to non-technical audiences.
• Interface with their peers in the Pacific Market, negotiate a Pacific Market strategy, and influence the Centralized Engineering/HQ teams to provide solutions specific to the Pacific Market needs.
• Make decisions that will impact the budget/finances for the submarket.
• Provide high level direction from leadership on our budget outline for the year and our Plan of Record goals. You will need to apply that direction to the solutions applied throughout the year to establish a balance between network need and cost of the solutions.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Networking, Computer Science or equivalent. Ideally, with a specialization in RF or Communications Systems.
• Five to ten years of wireless engineering experience including work in an RF or Network Performance related field. Recent RF engineering experience required.
• Three to five years of experience in leading/managing a technical team
• Experience with Ericsson infrastructure is preferred
• Organizational and communication skills.
• Technical, analytical, and project management skills
• Extensive knowledge of RF fundamentals
