What you’ll be doing...

This opportunity is for Military personnel who are current participants of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program or are participants of the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 3-2022.

Verizon is seeking a strong supervisor to join the Wireline Global Operations team in Hawaii. You will be responsible for managing a team of high professional technicians, performing surveillance and repair of the various Verizon backbone and infrastructure networks in addition to the new IEN. You will provide tactical strategy and direction for all outage and impacting network events. Additionally, you will operate as an escalation facilitator, drive projects, create opportunities for enhancement, and managing the group through priority events. • Strategic development / tactical implementation of global response plans to network-impacting events.
• Mentoring a team to the betterment of the individual and the organization.
• Supervising cross-functional groups of engineers supporting multiple networks and technologies.
• Updating and maintaining scheduling.
• Processing root cause analysis of outages and major network events.
• Tactical Outage and Situational Management.
• Handling special requests.
• Analyzing and Driving critical transformation business initiatives.
• Willingness to perform rotational on-call duties as well as work a flexible schedule, including nights/rotational weekends/holidays.

You’ll need to have:

• Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 3-2022.
• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience.
• Must be able to obtain or possess DoD Security Clearance
• Willingness to travel

Even better if you have:

• A degree.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business management, or engineering.
• Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and organizational budgets.
• Experience in the telecommunications industry.
• Operations experience.
• Technical knowledge of network equipment and systems.
• Knowledge of routing protocols (MPLS, LDP, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF) tools. Experience with Verizon internal systems (i.e. Espresso, ETMS, vRepair, BAAIS National, Smarts, OASIS, MASTARS, F & E, Netpro, MECCA, TCOMS, Lotus Notes).
• Experience managing complex processes and driving results.
• Experience in fiber optics,copper cable splicing and termination practices.
