What you’ll be doing...

As a Senior Solutions Architect, based in Canberra, you will serve as the technical design authority and architectural expert for sales opportunities in support of our Australian Federal government accounts. You will engage in complex, strategic sales opportunities directly, and serve as the technical lead for such pursuits, guiding and supporting teams of engineers and delegating as necessary. You are capable of working independently on deals of any size or complexity. You will be responsible for relationships and consult with our customer’s senior technical and business owners to create a strategy leveraging the strengths of our portfolio, and help execute that strategy within the sales and delivery organizations. Critically, you will lead the overall strategic solution and architectural direction adopted within our government accounts, leveraging all of Verizon’s capabilities. Key aspects of the role:

  • Being an integral part of the sales team to identify and qualify business opportunities, identify key Client technical objections and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers.
  • Forming and nurturing strong relationships with our government accounts, building trust with their senior management and key influencers.
  • Evaluating and identifying opportunities primarily focused on Verizon’s security (vulnerabilities, threats and risks in customer environments), network and cloud capabilities.
  • Proposing and presenting tailored technical solutions to address customer requirements and goals
  • Assessing results and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert, connecting with, directing and educating internal teams.
  • Providing guidance and responses to RFI/RFP/RFQ.
  • Leading prioritization of Client solution / technical requirements and champions resolution of solution / product gaps internally (also towards Product Groups) Researching emerging trends and ideas.
  • Developing individual skill sets and expanding product knowledge to maximize value and to deliver quality services to our client.
  • Evaluating new technologies that can be implemented.
  • Managing solution lifecycle and field support, from pilot to commercial acceptance.

You know how to relate to senior management and orchestrate big deals.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degreeor four or move years relevant working expereince
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years and exceptional Pre-Sales and customer engagement experience
  • Experience in complex multi-tower security and network solutions– ideally in Cyber Intelligence and Analytics, Critical Infrastructure, Global Managed Security Services, Threat and Risk Intelligence, Vulnerability Management.
  • Experience identitying and Accessing Management, Governance Risk and Compliance, or Security andNetwork Architecture, managed solutions.
  • Experience in secure internet gateway services
  • Experience in networking and cloud services.
  • Knowledge of the application landscape.
  • Australian government security clearance (baseline, NV-1 or higher).
  • Vendor, IT Service Provider, Consultancy and/or Systems Integrator experience engaging with various external customers.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to positively build effective working relationships, drive engagement, motivate colleagues, and influence culture.
  • Superb presentation skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience architecting IT infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems.
  • Proven track record in presenting compelling business cases to c-suite buyers. Ideally in large Government or global accounts.
  • Ability to met demanding goals and anticipated and mitigated technical barriers to sale or implementation.
  • Knowledgeof the competitive landscape and a demonstrable ability to clearly articulate technical differentiation and value proposition.
  • Mastery of commonly used security, Internet and networking concepts, practices and procedures experience.
  • Industry certification such as TOGAF and/or SABSA.
  • Sales or Pre-Sales Methodology training.
  • Sound planning, organizational, financial, high level report writing and administrative skills.
  • Programming skills.
