What you’ll be doing...

As an Application Support Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and operations of applications within the Verizon Video Network. You’ll be accountable for System Administration for all upstream and downstream network elements. You will also provide technical expertise on system maintenance, configuration, repair, and installation standards for all video data and video equipment. You will also lead and assist with training initiative, as well as process development/improvement for the national operation. Other responsibilities associated with this position include:

  • Providing expert-level support for system outages, leading trouble bridges, engaging vendors, and producing “root cause analysis” documentation.
  • Implementing feature designs and providing feedback and engineering solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Partnering with all key stakeholders to ensure new features and\or fixes are swiftly rolled out with no negative impact to customers or system performance.
  • Benchmarking the system and ensure all reliability and performance metrics are met.
  • Leveraging automation to eliminate manual processes and providing near real-time visibility into system health and performance.
  • Identifying deficiencies and quickly developing solutions in a DevOps manner to improve reliability and to add operational efficiencies in the network.
  • Actively participating in meetings with key stakeholders regarding roadmap planning and performance testing.
  • Mentoring Tier 1 members on video network systems and troubleshooting.
  • Providing concise weekly updates to management and effectively presenting project status to leadership.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to work a flexible scheduleincluding different shifts, holidays and weekends.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Computer Science.
  • Five or more years or more of experience in telecommunications.
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience with Linux systems in an enterprise production environment.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, load balancing, firewalls, HTTP, SSL, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Three or more years of experience as a system/network engineer.
  • Ability to manage/administer networks, video architecture, and Windows servers.
  • Experience with enterprise/network/video architecture monitoring tools or applications.
  • Experience with conditional access systems and digital rights management.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Arris networks.
  • One or more years of analog/digital video, audio, and multi-channel experience.
  • Experience with enterprise/network/video architecture monitoring tools or applications.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Motorola networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve IP network troubles in the physical, data link, and network layers.
  • Ability to maintain configuration of devices in a network management monitoring system.
  • Expert-level knowledge of services, network devices, knowledge base solutions, and system monitoring tools.
