What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s Global Technology Services (GTS) Strategy and Planning organization is seeking a leader to manage a complex vendor management organization. This hands-on role will partner with Sourcing, Legal, and the development teams across the IT organization to negotiate contracts, manage vendors, and build an enterprise-wide software asset management program. This role will work closely with senior leadership and peers across Verizon’s GTS organization.

The Associate Director is responsible for driving internal and external best practices, and bringing new thought leadership to the organization. Collaboration and defining new opportunities that leverage/ influence technology and expertise to solve business challenges are key to this role.

  • Lead teams responsible for hardware/ software vendor management, software asset management, and budget
  • Negotiate with vendors, providing strategic oversight and escalation in managing vendor relationships to ensure financial and operational objectives
  • Provide strategic oversight and escalation in managing vendor relationships to ensure financial and operational objectives
  • Partner to execute vendor selection and evaluation, pricing and contract negotiations, and vendor contract compliance
  • Sustain existing vendor relationships and build new ones
  • Evaluate existing software asset management program and implement more robust practices enterprise wide
  • Establish vendor performance standards
  • Evaluate and validate existing tools
  • Manage large hardware/ software budget for the enterprise, with a focus on problem solving for critical business issues, creating valuation models to assess different options
  • Develop and implement cross-functional process improvement strategies to advance vendor data and analytics
  • Liaise cross-functionally to troubleshoot and provide resolution to vendor issues

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in IT vendor management and governance, with direct negotiation experience.
  • Software Asset Management experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • BS in computer science or a related field.
  • IAITAM Certified Software Asset (CSAM) Manager.
  • Demonstrated excellence in thinking holistically about a problem
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and with integrity
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, manage and drive action
  • Exceptional communication and customer relationship skills
  • Ability to build consensus and cooperation as well as to influence, interact and negotiate with senior leadership in the organization
  • Ability to navigate and work effectively across a complex, geographically dispersed organization
