What you’ll be doing...

As a System Architect you will be responsible for planning the architecture of Verizon’s next generation Network Outage CommunicationSystem for Wireless and Wireline networks. You will be leading Agile Scrum teams providing the architectural framework to the team to operate in and giving guidance and direction to solve business complex problems. The responsibilities include System Architecture, Technology and Domain subject matter expertise to implement solutions, Project Management, Communication Management, Quality Management and Business Acceptance Testing. Responsible for leading new strategic initiatives and use cases in niche domains like 5G, MEC, VCP, Data and Transmission networks.

  • Operate within the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) System Architect role.
  • Work with the Solutions Architects and Product Management to design end to end solutions.
  • Work with Product Owners and Scrum teams using Customer-Centricity and Design Thinking practices to create solutions that meet user, customer, and market needs.
  • Write Low Level Design and Architecture Runway enablers in support of new business Features and Capabilities.
  • Ensure designs follow the Service Assurance Standard Operating Model and the Verizon North Star Architecture.
  • Engage in strategic cross functional projects and completely own solution delivery focussing on quality, time, business expectations and budget.
  • Define requirements, design and set-up of new environments to demonstrate proof of concept.
  • Understand new technologies and new use cases.
  • Review High Level Approach (HLA) documents for completeness and correctness.
  • Work with interfacing systems to develop detailed design documents including API's, data formats that aligned with HLA specifications.
  • Define system specific Nonfunctional requirements and performance requirements.
  • Involved in the Early Engagement process.

Where you'll be working...

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience designing large scale real time, mission critical, cloud based architectures, with a proven record to solving complex business problems.
  • Experience with designing systems using Java/Java Script, JMS, Micro Services, RESTFul and SOAP web services, XML/Jason, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker Containers, Relational Databases, JQuery, React JS and Node JS.
  • Experience leading a technical team.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Problem solving skillsto drive the team through ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to gather and organize data and develop solutions.
  • Ability to meet the Business priorities and expectations and create high quality, delightful, polished user experiences.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently on multiple high priority projects.
  • Experience with Telecom network technologies.
  • Knowledge developing and deploying applications into cloud environments.
  • Effective communication skills, a team player.
  • Knowledge of system development methodologies (DevSecOps, CICD Pipeline and Scaled Agile Framework).
  • Experience with practicing agile development methodology.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
