  • Manage or install all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
  • Install, configure, maintain network services, equipment and devices.
  • Supports administration of servers and server clusters.
  • Manage system back-up and restore protocol.
  • Plans and supports network and computing infrastructure.
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations and associated systems.
  • Documents network problems and resolution for future reference.
  • Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of networking essentials.
  • Oversee software and network security. Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed.
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
  • Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
  • Monitor network performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
  • Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.
  • Analyze equipment performance records in order to determine the need for repair or replacement.
  • Research new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation.
  • MOP review/updates and support of the execution of MOPs by System/Switch Technicians.


 Minimum Associates degree. A 4-yr technical degree and/or certifications such as CCENT, CCNA or JNCIE are preferred.

Intermediate training in at least 3 of the following areas: data networking and communications, wireless technologies, digital communications, operating systems and applications and telecommunications.

Demonstrated knowledge of data networking protocols and elements including TCP/IP, OSI, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, BFD, SIP, DNS, IMS, HSS, PCRF, AAA and LAN/WAN protocols is required.

Strong programming and computer skills with emphasis on applications are preferred. This should include Linux scripting, PHP, Javascript, MySQL, Perl, Python, HTML/HTML5. DevOps and Web development knowledge/experience, VMWare, Containers, XEN/hypervisor experience a plus.

Additional experience with Cisco operating systems, Juniper Junos, Alcatel-Lucent 7750, Fujitsu Flashwave 9500 platforms is considered a plus. General knowledge of optical transmission equipment administration and maintenance also considered a plus. Familiarity with Protocol Analysis, Packet Capture, Wireshark & NetScout tools. Demonstrated technical and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot end-to-end systems.

Must be able to tolerate highly stressful situations that come from balancing multiple deadlines, escalations, follow-ups from peers, and troubleshooting major issues.

Good interpersonal and communications skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook is required.
