What you’ll be doing...

Driving continuous improvement is what we are all about and you will help us by providing telecommunication processes and complex technical support for our network engineering and operations organization. As one of our foremost domain authorities, you will define our OSS strategy and lead the development and implementation of internal process and standardization initiatives to make us better.

In this senior role, you will be a lead Applications Engineer with an increased level of group leadership within the VNOE Edge Team which is responsible for the engineering, build, turn-up of virtual EPC Applications including the future 5G apps - Casa UPF, SMF, AMF and 4G existing apps such as Cisco vPGW & pPGW, vL-ESS, Guavus Collector, Nokia CMM, CMG, NOM, CBAM, Affirmed ePDG, etc. Responsibilities include the following:

• Manage application vendors, HQP and ME in the development and design of new EPC applications as needed, specifically with the Casa 5Gcore.
• Provide high level operational and maintenance support to the Network Assurance teams on the EPC applications.
• Act as both a technical leader and process leader within the team but also to supporting organizations.
• Introduce new concepts and skills to peers and to other cross functional teams through hands on demonstration, whiteboard sessions and presentations.
• Develop creative solutions that will streamline processes in order to move forward with 5G core applications faster and more efficiently.
• Lead FOA projects and maintain overall network expertise to support all applications that fall within VNOE Edge Team.
• Work closely with supporting teams such as Network Assurance, Performance and TEI to verify all failovers operate properly, and all testing is thoroughly vetted, and all schemas meet company expectations.
• Ensure product roadmaps are updated regularly and platform information is kept current.
• Develop innovative Processes and Solutions while utilizing practical experience to assist in application design and programming, software development, and tool creation while keeping up with the plan of record.

This is a work-from-home role performed almost exclusively from your home office with occasional in-person meetings and training.

Organized and detail-oriented, you’re an effective project manager, and you’re able to engage and motivate a project team to reach new heights. You have a natural ability to communicate with others and you manage partner expectations well. Learning new things and taking on new tasks in a fast-paced, ever-changing network environment excites you.

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Cloud engineering experience using some combination of programming language sucsh as:Perl, Java, Python, Ansible, Robot Framework, HTML, JSON, YAML, XML.
• Knowledge of the hardware, transport and platforms that support the applications, i.e. VCP Edge and Core, eNSE, iEN, UT and other building limitations and infrastructure.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Telecommunications.
• Long term wireless core engineering application and planning experience.
• Performance monitoring skills.
• Ability to analyze and trend capacity data.
• Experience with monitoring or logging tools such as SevOne, NDL, xLPT, eLPT, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Experience with development, deployment and support on Linux platforms in large scale user environments.
• Solid IP routing knowledge.
• Knowledge and experience in Linux, Networking, HTTP, DNS, SSL, TCP/IP troubleshooting
• Experience workingwith VCP Ops, Orchestration, Network Assurance, Edge App/Implementation/Planning, MPN, and TEI to achieve annual Plan of Record goals.
