What you’ll be doing...

This is a unique opportunity to join our Routing and Optimization team in Christchurch. We design and build state of the art truck routing and optimisation systems and algorithms. These systems assist the navigation and efficient utilisation of hundreds of thousands of trucks around the world. Our team does patentable and publishable research. We build this research into products with world-class features and we get it into the hands of our customers.

  • Conduct research into routing and optimization algorithms for the purpose of building these algorithms into our systems to meet our customer needs.
  • Participate in and provide leadership in all phases of the product development lifecycle, both independently and in cooperation with your team.
  • Implement changes and new features with high-performance code thatis also reusable and maintainable.
  • Liaise with product stakeholders and other teams in the organization to complete the projects on time and to the highest quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems during the full development lifecycle, including production.
  • Provide level of effort estimations for individual and team assignments.
  • Work with solution architects to define highly detailed specifications for technical solutions.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced members of the team.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

We are looking for a senior engineer or squad lead who can help the team on the research, engineering, cloud deployment, and/or leadership fronts.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in building enterprise quality code in C#, C++, or other languages.
  • Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CICD tools.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience and passion for leading people and projects.
  • Experience in modern high-performance C++ or have a desire to learn how to leverage the latest features to meet our performance and code quality goals.
  • CUDA skills.
  • Experience in building strong algorithms: search, optimisation, learning, ML, theorem proving, or others.
