When you join Verizon

Verizon is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, transforming the way we connect across the globe. We’re a diverse network of people driven by our shared ambition to shape a better future. Here, we have the ability to learn and grow at the speed of technology, and the space to create within every role. Together, we are moving the world forward – and you can too. Dream it. Build it. Do it here.

What you’ll be doing...

Our network engineering team keeps us ahead of the competition. As an RF Engineer, you’ll be redesigning mature network areas to minimize capacity constraints and improve SINR while working with other areas of network to ensure performance fixes and initiatives are in place. You’ll play a key role in making sure our customers continue to enjoy the crystal-clear connections and outstanding call performance that we’re known for. The Engineer II will be responsible for:

  • Partner with Systems Performance to create new search areas for cell sites, and walk candidate locations to approve site locations.
  • Identify and design capacity solutions including new sites, carrier additions, and optimization projects. Release designs and support them through the project lifecycle to include design, drawing reviews, electromagnetic emissions analysis, and regulatory submissions (FCC and EME).
  • Proactively look for areas to improve overall network performance, and provide technical leadership through analysis, troubleshooting, and training of market and regional engineers as needed.
  • Coordinate with various groups including Systems Performance and Network Assurance to design and successfully deploy network improvement solutions.
  • Prioritize multiple projects and drive decisions and resolutions for unique network service problems.
  • Optimize 5G, LTE, and radio access networks using traditional and innovative methods.
  • Review all aspects of job functions and recommend new procedures, programs, or test tools to enable greater job productivity.
  • Interface with project managers and groups such as Real Estate, Engineering, Systems Performance, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Regulatory to ensure our network quality and financial objectives are met.
  • Continuously improve the performance of both voice and data networks.
  • Take ownership of projects, and identify new processes to improve efficiencies and optimize network performance.
  • Prioritize high-visibility projects to meet regional Build Plan goals and manage projects independently.
  • Take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution.

Where you’ll be working:

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
  • Knowledge of LTE including VoLTE and RAN networks.
  • Knowledge of 5G-NR standards.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of RF theory and practice as well as LTE system design and optimization.
  • Knowledge of 3GPP LTE and 5G standards including VoLTE.
  • Experience working in Atoll or other radio propagation tool.
  • Experience with EME analysis tools such as RoofMaster.
  • Knowledge of mapping software such as MapInfo and Google Earth.
  • Strong statistical and analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of SQL or VB scripting.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and efficiently.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every "even better" qualification listed above.
