Connecting, disconnecting, reconnecting, testing, maintaining, installing, rearranging company and customer provided telephones and equipment, inside wiring, and wires at poles, underground or building terminals.  Working in various buildings and surroundings, including roofs, backyards, attics, basements, crawl spaces, etc.  Climbing poles and ladders, and working aloft.


1. Interpreting service orders and/or work orders.

2. Keeping detailed written record of all work activity.

3. Applying knowledge of telephony in wiring from the terminal up to the customer’s residence and/or place of business.

4. Placing, removing or repairing wiring between poles, between poles and buildings, or between buildings. Planning and installing inside wiring.

5. Performing diagnostic tests to determine trouble.

6. Splicing non-pressurized plastic insulation cables.

7. Maintaining positive customer relations by providing the customer with a clear explanation of how the product/service was installed or repaired and/or how the product/service works.

8. Maintaining positive company image through personal professionalism and effective interpersonal skills (even in dealing with disgruntled and argumentative customers).

9. Evaluating customers’ communication needs and introducing/selling products and services to customers.

10. May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.


1.  Physical Requirements:

• Working in various buildings and surroundings, including roofs, backyards, attics, basements, crawl spaces, etc. 
• May be climbing poles and ladders, and working aloft. 
• Must meet safety-related requirements including but not limited to those standards of safety imposed by OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers and/or the company.
• Medical evaluation is required. Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, perceiving differences in wire cable colors, moving and/or lifting items such as ladders, tools, cable, test equipment and other objects weighing up to 100 pounds, working aloft; climbing ladders and poles, and entering tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks.
• Must meet applicable federal and state standards for operating the size vehicles covered by this job title.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Where a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required, the applicant must pass a drug and alcohol test and qualify on the Department of Transportation’s CDL physical, written, and skills qualifications tests.

2.  Must meet attendance and punctuality standards.

3.  Security background investigation may be required.

4.  Must adhere to strict regulations and procedures for the security of Company property and funds.

5.  Must be available to work scheduled tours designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or the needs of the business.  Associates may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, non-scheduled and non-consecutive days, as the needs of the business require.  Tours are subject to change at any time based on the needs of the business and that are in accord with labor contract requirements.

6.  May work outdoors in all weather conditions.

7. Normally works and travels alone between work locations by driving Company vehicles with little or no direct supervision.
